Magnetic stretch rod inspection and transport for blow molding

Magnetic stretch rods used in bottle blow molding need controlled handling and repeatable inspection. MagMule combines a non-magnetic carrying case, locking latches, ergonomic handles, and dial-indicator configurations for checking out-of-round deviations while supporting safe transport during maintenance.

MagMule™

What maintenance task does MagMule support?

MagMule supports handling, transport, and deviation measurement for magnetic stretch rods used in blow molding machines. The rod is supported inside the case for inspection, and the case locks closed for transport.

This brings the inspection and carrying stages into one tool for maintenance and reliability teams to make this maintenance safer.

How are out-of-round deviations checked?

The rod is placed inside the case and supported from opposite sides within the case. The rod can then be rotated inside the case while analog dial indicators reveal changes in the readings during rotation. The indicator resolution is 0.01 mm. After the out-of-round readings are completed, the lid can be closed and locked for transport, or the rod can easily be removed from the case.

Compare the observed deviation with the allowed tolerances from the rod or machine manufacturer when making a service decision.

What is the difference between one-dial and three-dial configurations?

The one-dial configuration provides a measurement point for a deviation check at the center point of the rod. The three-dial configuration provides additional measurement points on the left side and right side of the rod as well.

Choose the arrangement for the inspection points and procedure your application requires. Both configurations use 0.01 mm indicator resolution.

What features support controlled magnetic rod transport?

MagMule uses non-magnetic construction, large handles on three sides of the tool, locking latches, and a clamshell design that ensures even if the locking latches were not properly engaged the case would still be held shut while one holds the case via the handles. The case closes for transport and opens for inspection.

The carrying points support handling and handoffs between team members as part of the site's rod-handling procedure.

What should I confirm for my particular application?

Check the actual magnetic stretch rod dimensions, and the inspection requirements. The standard configuration is for a 34.25-inch rod; that example does not determine the fit of every rod.

Use the actual rod geometry and manufacturer tolerances to confirm the appropriate case and indicator arrangement.

Can the case size be customized for the rod?

The listed reference case dimensions are 40 by 7 by 4 inches, and sizes can be reviewed for your rod requirements. Confirm rod length/diameter and other fit details before reaching out. We would be glad to help customize the tool to your exact needs.

What warranty and purchase guarantee are included?

MagMule includes a 3-year warranty and a 60-day money-back guarantee. Choose the dial-indicator configuration on the product page and confirm any requested size changes before ordering.
